RFP Description:
The Indiana Department of Correction Branchville Correctional Facility, 21390 Old State Road 37, Branchville, Indiana, is located in the extreme southern part of the Indiana. The facility, which started as a forest work camp with a multiple small housing units for offenders, grew over time. It is now a fully functioning medium level security correctional facility with an offender population of over 1,400 inmates. This growth exposed inadequacies in the infrastructure including a heating system based on propane, inefficient lighting, outdated controls, inefficient air handling units, inefficient water supply and water conservation, inefficient handling of sewage, the need for new piping and insulation of the HVAC system, and a general need for a cohesive energy efficient program to improve the overall energy efficiency of the facility. Many of the inefficiencies are made problematic by the remote location of the facility and its distance from public infrastructure and utilities.
