Sealed bids for the General Contract for the Boiler Renovations at the Hajjar Elementary School until Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at the Billerica Public Schools, Business Office, 365 Boston Road, Billerica, MA 01821 at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. CONTRACTOR CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY: Bids from the General Contractor will be valid only when accompanied by (1) a Certificate of Eligibility issued by DCAM showing that the contractor has been approved to bid on Projects the size and nature of that advertised, and (2) an update statement summarizing the contractor's record for the period between the latest DCAM Certification and the date the Contractor submits its bid. Once the Awarding Authority determines the low bidder, it will verify whether the contractor is eligible by checking the DCAM certification, and responsible by checking the contractor's most recent work as listed in the update statement. CONTRACTOR CERTIFICATION: Contractor shall be certified by DCAM as a Mechanical or HVAC BID DEPOSITS: Cash, certified check, or a treasurer's or cashier's check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, or a Bid Bond payable to the Billerica Public Schools shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid. ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST: $425,000 BID DOCUMENTS AND DEPOSITS: Plans and specification will be available at the office of the Engineer, BLW Engineers, Inc., 311 Great Road, Littleton, MA 01460 on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 after 9:00 A.M. Office Hours 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. There is a $50.00 deposit per set for the plans and specifications. Payment should be made in the form of a check, payable to the Town of Billerica. If any Bidder wishes the bid documents mailed to him there will be a non refundable postage and handling charge of $50.00 per set by check, payable to BLW Engineers, Inc. Document deposit will be refunded upon return of complete bid documents to BLW Engineers, Inc., in good condition within seven (7) days after opening of the general bids. Otherwise, bid deposits will become the property of the Town. PRE-BID TOUR: A pre-bid Conference will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Hajjar Elementary School, 59 Rogers Street, Billerica, Massachusetts, 01821. Any request for interpretation of plans and specifications should be submitted in writing at the same time. Although not mandatory, this will be the only opportunity for interested contractors to observe existing building conditions. RIGHT OF THE AWARDING AUTHORITY TO REJECT BIDS: Billerica Public Schools, Billerica, Massachusetts, the Awarding Authority, reserves the right to reject any or all General Bids if it is in the public interest to do so. MINIMUM WAGE RATES: Attention is called to the fact that no less than the minimum wage rates as established by the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Industries must be paid on this project.
