RFP Description:
The Proposer will determine the number of residential retrofit projects and the type of mitigation improvement(s) proposed. The Division’s Property Information Sheet for each residential structure identified will be required to be submitted within two weeks of award. All retrofit or other installation of mitigation devices on the residential structure shall comply with the Florida Building Code and be systemic in nature whenever possible. The term systemic refers not just to shutters or roof improvements, but a system that ties together all aspects of wind mitigation solutions. Example activities include:
A) Replacement of roof sheathing;
B) Replacement of roof covering;
C) Installation of window and door opening protection;
D) Brace bottom chord gable end;
E) Anchoring of wall or floor units; and
F) Roof to wall to foundation connections.
Where a systemic approach cannot be implemented, this must be clearly justified (i.e., structure has already been partially mitigated or structure does not otherwise require certain measures).
