EnergyGridIQ Newsflash: 4/2

1) Humanity is not the most thoughtful planner. Whether it is our archaic electric system or the overburdened sewers, we often do not design with the complete picture in mind. Segmented structure-energy-utility design has been a burden on every aspect of society creating inefficiencies in realms from transportation to food harvesting.

However, progressive designers at the eVolo competition have crafted a novel solution to the issues of deconstructed systems. Their design for futuristic living environment, entitled the Rhizome Towers captured upon a linked system that incorporated not only energy generation, but also living space and utility reuse and retransfer.

2) Speaking of the disconnected energy grid that we operate on, the current system is (obviously) antiquated to the point of radical inefficiencies. These include watt leakage at upwards of 20% along some transmission lines as well as horrible ineffectiveness in capacity regulation. To solve some of these problems, new technology is being developed including intermitted demand response generators that link the capacity gaps during peak and off peak demand. 3) There is always a beautiful complexity to the earth. Whether it is the oceans with their vast uncovered mystery of the far North with sheet of undiscovered tundra, there are countless unexplored and hidden mysteries awaiting to be uncovered.

However, sometimes there is a mystery waiting to be recovered. That was the case when two tree species, previously thought to be extinct were discovered deep within the forests of Tanzania. Read more about this amazing rediscovery, and the capacity for earth to constantly survive here:
