The Economic Development Office of a federally-recognized Tribe located in the desert southwest U.S. is seeking expressions of interest with accompanying qualifications statements (QS) from solar energy Technology Providers willing to co-develop a solar project with the Tribe. The sovereign Nation is responsible for economic development, financial solvency and the general welfare of Tribal members, within a framework of long-term sustainability. To see this high-quality development opportunity to fruition, the Tribe is seeking to partner with an experienced solar energy Technology Provider capable of completing all aspects of project development up to, and possibly including, construction and operation. Project Information Project Size: 35 to 50 MW dc Project Technology: Commercial Solar Photovoltaic (no research or demonstration) Site Control: The project will be located on up to 400 acres of flat, historically-farmed land, under a 25-year lease, with no known cultural or aesthetic encumbrances or other limitations. Resource: The project site benefits from a location within the most attractive, productive solar resource in the southwestern U.S. Access to Market: The project site is adjacent to the transmission right-of-way and less than one mile to the point of interconnection. Customer: The Tribe will pursue a long-term agreement with a credit-worthy off-taker. Timing: The Tribe anticipates development will begin in earnest in late summer 2012, and the project will be operational within 24 to 32 months of development start.
