One simple way to save energy is to purchase a correctly sized furnace for your home. Unfortunately, most furnaces installed before 1980 are over sized, wasting energy. If you get a smaller furnace that is the right size for your home, with a lower heat, British thermal unit (Btu) rating, it would actually provide better comfort than one that you may have currently, that is too large for your house.
