Energy Project RFP Alert - US NC - North Carolina State University Bid - Park Alumni Center Hvac System Renovation

Alert Type:
Bid

Description:
The Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center is an existing 4-story building used for hosting alumni events, receptions, banquets and
conferences. It also serves as the administrative office space for the NCSU Alumni Association and meeting space for the Chancellor
and the Board of Trustees. The HVAC system fails to heat and cool properly causing severe heating and/or cooling issues in certain
rooms. A study was conducted to evaluate the HVAC deficiencies and to identify potential solutions. The existing HVAC system is comprised of four packaged rooftop units with Direct Expansion cooling and gas heat serving 51,342 SF
of the building via a network of above-ceiling variable air volume terminals throughout the building. Each rooftop unit is connected to
an energy recovery ventilator. The remainder of the building (6,971 SF) is served by combinations of ventilation exhaust fans, unit
heaters or small split system air conditioners. Most of the building exhaust (for toilets, etc.) is ducted to a central rooftop exhaust fan.
The kitchen hood exhaust and make-up are provided through a combination rooftop exhaust fan and supply fan (with gas heat).
The project will address the following HVAC deficiencies:
1. Alleviating temperature inconsistencies in three large and high-profile rooms.
2. Correcting the poor application of ERVs and reducing the amount of short-circuiting air flow.
3. Eliminating the negative pressure issue created by the current exhaust requirements, particularly for the kitchen area.
4. Updating the control monitoring system for all implemented improvements, when applicable.
The building will remain occupied during the renovation.
