The City of Montpelier is requesting bids for the construction of a district heating system with approximately one mile of trench"length of hot water piping, connections and conversio:ls of three public buildings to use district heating water and several district heating service laterals to non-City controlled buildings. Work to be performed under this contract consists of the construction of approximately one mile of trench including supply and return thin wall, carbon steel, pre-insulated district heating pipe, ranging from 8" to 1.5" inside diameter in both system mains and service laterals. This new piping system will run between the State of Vermont's heating plant, through City streets and extend to Union Elementary School and City Hall, with service laterals and spurs brar.iching "off to serve non-City customers. The work includes restoration of the surface conditions after pipe installation. In addition, this project includes converting the Union Elementary School from a low pressure steam heating system to a hot water heating system. Finally, this project includes connecting and converting the Police Department and the City Hall buildings to the district heating system and modifying their internal heating systems to use the district hot water.
