The US Department of Transportation/Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA)/ Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) hereby proposes an ESPC project at the Volpe Center in Cambridge, MA to increase its overall sustainability through a reduction in energy and water usage, increases in energy efficiency, and adding renewable energy technologies.
The purpose of the Volpe Center is to improve the nation's transportation system by serving as a center of excellence for informed decision making, anticipating emerging transportation issues, and advancing technical, operational, and institutional innovations. The Volpe Center is a unique federal agency that is 100 percent funded by sponsor projects, which makes it efficient in its work, agile in its approach, and entrepreneurial in its nature. Located in Cambridge, MA, the Volpe Center is comprised of six buildings with approximately 1100 occupants. The primary functions of the building(s) being considered for this ESPC are; office and general administration, information technology and data center, and a service building.
