Finances of renewable energy
One of the most interesting and confusing anomalies in the entire world is the human brain. It is a mélange of emotions, feelings, and general irrationalities. As such, the human brain is constantly in a state of flux, wavering between warring parties, and attempting at every turn to make the correct decision for self… no matter how that decision is made.
So, it should come with no surprise that in the realm of green energy, the human psyche is often the limiting factor in implementing change.
One of the concepts that people in general struggle with, in particular, is buyback time. The thought that an investment in the present will not pay itself off for 3-5 years is not very appealing to most people. Especially when purchasing energy in the traditional fashion is so easy and (relatively) cheap. For most people it simply doesn’t make sense to change their current lifestyle.
However, some companies are trying to change the way people think about their energy spending. The company is honing in on a simple fact: people want to be green, but they don’t necessarily want to own their own green production units. So, to deal with this, PsomasFMG has restructured the way it sells and operates solar units.
Simply, rather than sell people the solar energy production equipment (the solar cells and inverter etc…), PsomasFMG has decided that it will sell people the energy. Let me explain. In exchange for permission to install their equipment on people’s property, AND the signing of a power purchase agreement between the client and PsomasFMG, PsomasFMG will install solar cells free of charge.
All you have to do is pay for your energy at the market rate you are already paying. Simple enough, right?
Especially for larger institutions, such as schools, that have a higher purchasing power capacity, this option can be very appealing for both sides of the party.
Recently, PsomasFMG signed an agreement with the Hart School District for its energy sales. Undoubtedly, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
