Energy Project RFP Alert - US AZ - The Maricopa County Community College District RFP - Solar And Other Renewable Energy

Alert Type:
RFP

Description:
The Maricopa County Community College District is seeking proposals from experienced
renewable and alternative energy development companies and vendors to provide renewable or
alternative energy for college locations in order to advance the District’s energy goals including
reduction of energy expenses. The District has identified a number of energy goals that it is
actively working towards, including:
Reducing energy use and attributable emissions including greenhouse gases;
Improving the efficiency of the District’s energy consumption;
Promoting renewable alternatives and sustainable energy sources;
Meeting the requirements of the recently signed American College and University
President’s Climate Commitment pledge; and
Procuring energy at a reasonable cost.
To further these goals, the District has undertaken significant steps over the past decade to
implement programmatic energy conservation measures (ECMs) District-wide and recently went
through a process of evaluating bids from a request for proposals (RFP) for additional ECMs. In
addition to ECMs, the District views renewable and alternative energy as another effective
strategy for advancing their energy goals. The objective of this RFP is to solicit renewable and
alternative energy projects that offer the best value to the Maricopa County Community
Colleges (Colleges) of the District based on specific energy and sustainability goals. At this
time, neither the Colleges nor the District wishes to own or operate the renewable or alternative
energy systems, but rather purchase the resulting energy through a power purchase agreement
(PPA) or other contract vehicle.
